The Dog Behaviour Clinic was first established in 2007, moving to its current location in 2009. It was founded by Lisa Hird, a fully qualified canine behaviourist and dog trainer. We offer a wide range of services to cater for all aspects of canine behaviour and training. There are a number of articles on some of the most common behavioural problems which you may find useful. However, please feel free to contact me (with no obligation) to discuss your dogs individual needs. |
Dog Training sessions focus upon teaching the dog to obey commands. Dog training sessions are useful for correctly teaching basic training and good manners. Many inexperienced dog owners like to take their dog to classes which also provides opportunities for dog socialisation.
Canine Behaviourists help to analyse and solve problems caused by the unwanted behaviour of dogs. My approach is made through an experienced understanding of the psychology and behaviour of canines. Why does a dog chew the furniture? Why does it bark all the time? Why do some dogs show aggressive behaviour to other dogs. These are just a few examples of the canine issues I deal with quite often.
Dogs need a leader. If the owner does not assume the role of leader, then the dog will. If a young dog is left with nothing to do, he will find his own amusement; chewing shoes, ripping the sofa. Boredom or anxiety are the reasons for most forms of destructive behaviour and should be corrected, not punished.
