Adopting a puppy
Mini course
Bringing a puppy into your life is an exciting and meaningful decision. Puppies offer companionship, joy, and endless opportunities to learn together. But to truly support them, we must understand who they are as dogs, not as small humans.
As humans, we naturally interpret the world from a human‑centred perspective. It’s common to attribute human thoughts, intentions, and emotions to our dogs — a tendency known as anthropomorphism. While it often comes from a place of love, it can lead to misunderstandings. A dog’s sensory world, communication style, and emotional needs are very different from ours, as highlighted by researchers such as Grandin (1995). Learning to see the world through your puppy’s eyes is one of the most valuable skills you can develop as a guardian.
That’s exactly what this Puppy Adoption Mini Course is designed to help you do.

Reading canine body language — understanding what your puppy is really communicating
Teaching manners and social skills — foundations for a confident, well‑adjusted dog
Encouraging healthy play — supporting natural behaviour in a safe, structured way
At the end of the course, you’ll complete a short questionnaire to receive your certificate of completion.
